Temporal Planning with Mutual Exclusion Reasoning

چکیده
Many planning domains require a richer notion of time in which actions can overlap and have di erent durations. The key to fast performance in classical planners (e.g., Graphplan, ipp, and Blackbox) has been the use of a disjunctive representation with powerful mutual exclusion reasoning. This paper presents tgp, a new algorithm for temporal planning. tgp operates by incrementally expanding a compact planning graph representation that handles actions of di ering duration. The key to tgp performance is tight mutual exclusion reasoning which is based on an expressive language for bounding mutexes and includes mutexes between actions and propositions. Our experiments demonstrate that mutual exclusion reasoning remains valuable in a rich temporal setting.

متن کاملITSAT: An Efficient SAT-Based Temporal Planner
Planning as satisfiability is known as an efficient approach to deal with many types of planning problems. However, this approach has not been competitive with the state-space based methods in temporal planning. This paper describes ITSAT as an efficient SAT-based (satisfiability based) temporal planner capable of temporally expressive planning. The novelty of ITSAT lies in the way it handles t...
متن کاملA Temporal Planning System for Level 3 Durative Actions of PDDL+
Many planning domains have temporal features that can be expressed as durations associated with actions. Unfortunately, the conservative model of actions of most temporal planners is not appropriate for some domains which require richer models. Level 3 of PDDL2.1 introduces a model of durative actions which includes local conditions and effects to be satisfied at different times during the exec...
متن کاملExtracting Lifted Mutual Exclusion Invariants from Temporal Planning Domains
We present a technique for automatically extracting mutual exclusion invariants from temporal planning instances. It first identifies a set of invariant templates by inspecting the lifted representation of the domain and then checks these templates against properties that assure invariance. Our technique builds on other approaches to invariant synthesis presented in the literature, but departs ...
